2000 AD Prog 1508
Mega-City One, 2130 AD. This vast urban nightmare on the east coast of post-apocalyptic North America is home to 400 million citizens, every one a potential criminal. With lawlessness rife, only the Judges can prevent total anarchy. These future lawmen are judge, jury and executioner. Toughest of them all is Judge Dredd - he is the law!
London, 2006. Anthony Elvy is a film journalist growing tired with the ego-massaging circus that pervades the movie business. The son of a once-famous film director, Elvy's formative years were spent on soundstages, to the extent where he makes a point of avoiding on-set interviews, sick of the fake sincerity that surrounds him. But even he can't resist a scoop about a missing and supposed cursed horror movie...
Out in the vast reaches of the universe, there are an infinite number of stories waiting to be told. From chronicles of the lowliest swamp denizens in backwater galaxies to the rise and fall of rulers of entire star systems, anything is possible in these twisted tales. Abandon your preconceptions, expect the unexpected and take a trip beyond the edges of the imagination…
The Acoma System, a Souther-held warzone in their galaxywide conflict with the Norts. Centred around a gas giant, its ore-rich moons make it a valuable mining site, and the job of protecting the regular supply routes falls to the 86th Air Support Reconnaissance Squadron - more commonly known as THE 86ERS - a dumping ground for every failure and freak. Based in The Citadel, a giant asteroid fortress that was built by an alien race long before humanity's expansion into the universe, life amongst the 86ers is short and brutal - trust no one, especially not those in charge...
The swollen city of Downlode lies sprawled across the heart of future Europe like a hit-and-run victim. Here, life is cheap - if you want someone whacked, you can't buy better bullet monkeys than Finnigan SINISTER and Ramone DEXTER, the city's primo hitmen.
Inspired by John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction.
Artist Jason Brashill declined the chance to co-create Sinister Dexter but he did paint the cover image to promote the characters' first appearance in Prog 981.
Sinister is Latin for left, while Dexter is Latin for right.
