Created by the legendary comic book designer Jan Shepheard, with its craggy, cliff-like lettering and shining ‘Judge’ badge the logo’s solidity and character perfectly set the tone for Dredd’s debut in 2000 AD Prog 2. 2000 AD‘s first art editor in 1977 and one of the great unsung heroes of British Comics, Jan created many definitive logos during her work on Starlord, Tornado, Roy of the Rovers, Eagle, Scream and many other titles. She sadly passed away in 2014.
